- What is spacetornado software?
spacetornado software consists of just one 25-year-old computer software programmer based in Portland, Oregon: Tony Johnson. I create computer software as a hobby and give it away free on this website. It is also offered for free on other software download websites, like Download.com, Softpedia, Tucows, and others (though this website is the best place to get the latest versions). There are many different definitions of free software on the web, so here's my definition of free software:
- spacetornado software costs no money for you to download, use, update and receive [limited] support for it.
- spacetornado software and its website are not ad-supported and do not include any bundled malware (adware, spyware, etc.). There are no trial periods, serial numbers, etc.
- The source code is not available for free, except to potential employers who want to look at samples of my code. This helps protect the many hours of hard work I have spent.
- What are your design principles?
I believe that software should:
- be easy to use, even for computer novices and the not-so-technically inclined.
- do one thing and do it well.
- communicate with you, the user, as though you are a human and not another program.
- help you out if you get stuck -- in a clear & concise way -- with examples and screenshots.
- What's with the name "spacetornado"?
I have always been fascinated with space (the kind with moons, comets, quasars and so on) and also with tornados. So I put them together. And the domain wasn't already registered so it's as though the stars aligned for me to choose this name. If you find yourself in outer space avoid spacetornados at all cost, but do enjoy them from a safe distance. ;)
- How can I contact you or get more info?
You can send me an email. Take my first name, Tony, and add on @spacetornado.com to the end (let's see the spam bots try to harvest that email address!). For any matter related to a specific program, please go to that program's web page and use the "Contact Us" form. I usually reply to emails within a day or two.
